Veterans, people with low income, and homeless families have a new place to call home in Fall River, Massachusetts. Eagle Community Care Estates, a previously foreclosed property, was refurbished by local social service agency Community Care Services. It now provides 2-3 bedroom homes with a common courtyard to residents who pay 30% of their income and have access to an on-site case manager. This community-funded effort enables Community Care Services to help prevent homelessness, as well as providing education, employment and substance abuse programs. Housing is a new endeavor for this agency, but they’re confident it meets an important need.
