Prince George’s County Moves To Establish Foreclosure Relief Fund

Maryland’s Prince George’s County suffers from the highest foreclosure rate in the state. In an effort to avoid future foreclosures, the County Council has proposed a Foreclosure Recovery Fund. Sponsoring Councilman Will Campos estimates a need of at least $10 million, to come through grants and loans. This fund would help to prevent foreclosures as well as move foreclosed properties off the market. The bill awaits a final vote from the council. This effort is just the latest in the county’s focus on economic development and addressing the housing crisis. According to Campos, “…it’s a great start.”
